ABOUT US
WHO:
Hi, I'm Mai - the creator behind Salt and Light Creations. The name comes from Jesus' words to His followers: "You are the light of the world." Those words have stayed with me in a deeply personal way. They remind me that even the smallest light can make a difference and that we're called to carry that light with us wherever we go.
I have been a Christian since my late teens but for much of my adult life, I quietly kept my faith to myself. I didn't set out to hide my light but looking back, I know I could have let it shine more boldly. Through life's joys, disappointments, and many trials, Jesus never stopped showing me His love and somewhere along the way, He reminded me that even a small light can make a difference. This is my tiny handmade "ministry" - and I do mean, mini - but I believe God can use small things, made with love, for something much bigger. Whether you share my faith or simply need a little encouragement, I hope something you find here brightens your day.
WHAT:
I create custom Bible cases one at a time using high-quality cotton fabrics carefully selected and shipped from Japan. I love Japanese fabrics for their beautiful, distinctive designs - many of which are not readily available in North America. Each case is made from scratch with careful attention to every detail, from measuring and cutting the fabric to choosing zippers and thread that compliment the colours in the material. I sew, press, and refine each piece until I am completely satisfied with the finished case. My hope is to create something beautiful, practical, and special - a case worthy of carrying a book that matters so much.
WHEN:
The idea for these cases came to me unexpectedly on January 19, 2026 after a long season of waiting and wondering what the next chapter of my life would hold. I felt God leading me toward a creative calling. Despite the uncertainty and self-doubt, I took each step in faith and little by little, things started falling into place. After months of experimenting and refining, three designs made the final cut - for now. What began as an unexpected idea has become a new creative journey and I'm excited to see where it leads.

I make the cases in Markham, Ontario, Canada.
WHY Bible cases?
Bibles can become beautifully worn with time but I want to help protect them so they can last for generations. My mom gave me hers when I got baptized and remains a treasure to me, especially as she is now with the Lord in heaven.
I also miss seeing people bring their Bibles to church. There is something special about the soft rustling of those thin, delicate pages as everyone searches for the day's readings. My hope is to encourage more people to bring their Bibles with them, protect them well, and perhaps, one day pass them on to someone they love.
WHY choose my cases?
I want to create a Bible case that is well made, thoughtfully designed, and suited to your personal style - something that you'll enjoy carrying with you. I hope that when you choose one of my cases, you'll feel the care and intention that went into making it. And, if you have questions or would like something a little different, I'd love to hear from you. More than anything, I hope this little venture can be a way for us to encourage one another to be the salt and light that God has called us to be.
